So cute!

Yesterday, as Jack was snuggled in my arms, we had this conversation:
Me: Who made you so cute?
Jack: Dad
Me: How did he do that?
Jack: um um um um um um um um um um um (There were a LOT of ums) um um.... Him colored me.

It smells like...

I made a new soup for dinner tonight- Bacon and Kale Minestra.  It has a few slices of cut up bacon in it, onions, garlic, potatoes, a whole pound of Kale and some white beans (and a few other things...) and Parmesan cheese on top.  I was a little nervous about serving the kids and Mike this soup, so I made some homemade French bread to go with it.  I need them to like something in their meals!
Well, Mike was running a little late tonight, so the kids and I sat down to eat before he got home.  The soup was definitely not their favorite, but all three kids ate a bunch of soup.  Paige and Jonah each ate a whole ladle-full -without complaining.  I was so proud.  I figured if the kids kind-of liked it, that Mike would sort-of like it.  Soon after, Mike was sitting at the table by himself looking at his soup and making a changing-a-poopy-diaper kind of face.  I said, "You don't like it, do you"?  His response was "No!  It smells like belly button".

Mama's Helper

Jack does everything with me, but he especially loves cooking and baking.  He loves to stir, add ingredients and push buttons.  My meal planning has changed a bit to include things for Jack to do.  Since  he loves to stir, soups have been on the menu a lot.  They (the soups) don't  seem to mind his constant (and not necessarily thorough) stirring.  Also, anything that uses the blender or mixer are really cool!
Oh, and I guess I should mention this.  Jack does not like wearing clothes anymore.  Yesterday (when this picture was taken), I dressed him once and Paige dressed him once but the clothes didn't stay on for more than 5 minutes each time.  I don't really mind him running naked through the house (even though I am sometimes cold in here with a sweatshirt on!). For cooking though, I have him wear an apron to protect his exposed parts.

My Heroes!

Yesterday I asked the kids to get dressed (We were going to the YMCA soon) and they came out looking like this!

Just in case you cannot tell who they are (L to R), they  are Robin, Superwoman, and Superman.

I love the ballet tights on Jack (aka Superman). I had to talk him out of the tights and underwear (He did have another pair under the tights...) and into a pair of pants, but he insisted on wearing his "cape" for most of the day.
So, my kids have been SUPER (heroes) lately.  They are happily enjoying life and their friends and family and of course their new toys from Christmas.  I on the other hand have not been feeling so super.  I guess I am giving you a little excuse for why I have been such a TERRIBLE blogger lately. My iron level is really low.  I'm working on it (eating meat, green drinks, lentils, supplements...), but a lot of days I have to rest when I put Jack down for his nap (totally NOT normal for me!)- usually the time I would blog.  In a few weeks I should be back to my more consistently busy (and bloggy) self.
Hope you are all SUPER!
