Who's Prettier?

Jonah didn't seem to mind being the "mommy" today. He was even trying to "smile pretty" for the camera. Funny, because the REAL mommy here tries to avoid the camera. Usually Jonah is either a boy character or some type of animal. He is Henry when they play "Angelina Ballerina" and he's Boots the Monkey when they play "Dora". He has been Paige's dog and Paige's baby... I love my childrens' imaginations and their complete confidence and security in who they are. They even get Jack involved sometimes. Last Christmas Paige had me swaddle Jack so he could lie on a pillow and blanket manger with Paige and Jonah looking on as Mary and Joseph.

The Zoo!

The kiddos and I went on a field trip Thursday to the Woodland Park Zoo! We always love that place and Jonah really feels that he belongs there... We met my friend Christi and her one year old, Katie and enjoyed the day. Both Paige and Jonah LOVE the giraffes best. Jack, just like Paige at his age, liked the hippopatumus's ball. We did enjoy a new area of the zoo, the Zoonazium, when it started to pour outside. This inside playground was so fun for the kids. There was a big section for toddlers with rocks to climb, faux tree trunks to climb through, and this really cute foam egg that we put around the kids and they could hatch out of. The big kid area was awesome for Paige. There was a realistic looking tree house that the kids climbed up to and had a slide down. There were also lots of rocks to climb on and bridges and things to go over. Fun place!

Crayons Everywhere!

Does anybody else just let your little ones "play" with crayons? Jonah and Jack have been busy for the last 15 minutes throwing, lifting, dumping crayons all over the kitchen floor. Sometimes they even put the crayons back in the container and then toss them out again. Jonah tried skateboarding on the plastic lid, Jack pushed the lid and container across the floor... Sometimes, I take that back, MOST of the time kiddos are so happy with simple things. Okay, better get this floor cleaned up before Daddy comes home!!!

Summer Morning

Boy is it hot! We all woke up early this morning because we could not sleep in our over 80 degree house. The kids and I went outside to play before it got too hot. Jonah helped me water the strawberries and got Paige completely soaked by the hose (She wanted to be soaked.). Everyone spent time in the shade on the patio. Jack loves getting in and out of his car and just sitting in the Barbie Jeep, pretending to drive. Jonah and Paige just zoom around him riding and running.

Mini-Mike (Jonah)

Jonah wants to be JUST like his Daddy. He especially loves working outside with him. When Mike mows the lawn, which takes 2 to 3 hours, Jonah follows behind with his toy lawnmower the entire time! When Mike spread bark and weeded for a week after Jack's birth, Jonah was right there with his shovel and the little rake.
The last project that they worked on was rebuilding the front steps of the house. Jonah loved being the assistant and got Mike anything he needed. He also helped hammer and he practiced drilling (with a real electric drill- Yikes!) on the old wood. Last week Paige, Jack and I were at Vacation Bible School in the evenings at our church and while we were there, Mike and Jonah finished the steps project. On Thursday night at about 6:45 Mike saw Jonah with his head down on a step. He said, "Hey, Jonah!" Jonah didn't answer. He had fallen asleep right there even with Mike hammering and drilling away! So, Mike continued working for 20 minutes or so to finish up his project and then picked Jonah up to get him ready for bed. Jonah woke up briefly to say that they needed to work, but Mike said they were already done and Jonah went right back to sleep. Mike realized that he should have taken a picture of this. Just imagine Jonah on the front steps with his head down, tools scattered about and Daddy hammering away. Cute.
